In the Sea of Okhotsk, a bowhead whale, which fell into the "Red Book" a few hundred meters from the coast, was caught in a fishing net. The trapped animal was seen by tourists passing by the boat. They reported the incident to animal rights defenders and scientists, after which the rescuers urgently went in search of the animal.
The search team found the whale two days later, as the sea creature constantly moved due to the noise of the boats. During this time, he managed to break some of the ropes, but he could not completely free himself.
Experts said that the whale was under stress and gradually losing strength. At the moment, rescuers cannot approach it, because it is dangerous for people's lives - the whale can overturn the ship. However, scientists are determined, because the loss of even one bowhead whale will accelerate the extinction of this species - there are only 300 such whales left on Earth.
