Australia's "Lucapa Diamond" company found the largest pink diamond (170 carats) discovered in the last 300 years in the Lulo mine in northeastern Angola.
Angolan Minister of Mineral Resources Diamantino Azevedo said:
"This spectacular pink diamond from Lulo will make Angola a major player on the world stage."
It is reported that the diamond belonging to the Angolan state will be put up for sale through an international tender held by the country's trading firm "Sodiam".
It should be noted that the 59.6-carat "Pink Star" diamond, which was auctioned in Hong Kong in 2017, was sold for $71.2 million. It is known as the most expensive pink diamond ever sold.
